Blog #2: Where I Am, and Where I Want To Go
My topic of inquiry is the history of colors. Children learn colors at young ages and use them for many purposes throughout their whole lives. As children, you learn what colors are what, but you never learn about WHY colors were named their names, who named them, how they were discovered, fun or interesting facts about colors, etc. As a future kindergarten or first-grade teacher, I hope to be able to teach students these facts, not for testing purposes but for a fun informational purpose. While preparing this unit, I have begun to think about what I already know about colors, which is not much. I know the colors I was taught while growing up, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, etc., the primary colors, Red, Yellow, Blue, and the secondary colors, Green, Orange, Purple.
